The Clubhouse?

-Latest project schedule will be provided by Trust shortly.

Any questions?

-Question regarding treatment of Café funds deferred to the past Treasurer for clarification

Club Managers Report 2018

Review of 2018 Season …and looking forward …

It’s been a very challenging year
We’ve had an extraordinary range of issues to deal with over the season, everything from the fire that destroyed the junior equipment store, involvement with decisions over the clubhouse, the disciplinary action and the implications of the Travellers incursion on the Rec - as well as sustaining a full junior programme and two strong pushes for promotion and an active Sunday fixture list.

Financial
It’s very pleasing to see how much we have recovered from our low point this time last year. Thanks to Hugh for managing that and for everyone who has helped in some way.

On the pitch…
It was a real disappointment to see the 1st XI fall at the final hurdle but congratulations to everyone involved with the 2nd XI who sealed promotion by just one point.
The 1st XI suffered heartbreak on the final day, missing out on promotion as they lost by four wickets to Ripley, missing out on promotion by the finest of margins actually tying on points.
The 2nd XI sealed promotion in the most nervous of manners, losing to Teddington Town but earning enough bonus points to ensure we remained in the top two spots in the table. Despite losing by 59 runs, the five bonus points were enough to see us promoted from Div 3.
It was another enjoyable year for the Sunday 1st XI with its emphasis on enjoyment and making sure everyone got a game. We won around half the fixtures and had stand-out performances from two new junior players this year in Lawrence and Harry. Thanks to Mike for his leadership of the side and well done to everyone involved.

Thanks to everyone who has played for all sides. Bearing in mind our situation overall and operating out of temporary accommodation we have performed extremely creditably. A huge thanks to Pam and the bar team who provided the high-quality teas that we’ve all enjoyed!

Playing strength…

Through the season we have had added a number of new players and as mentioned we’ve seen a number of current and past juniors play with great effect over the season. Each week it has been a challenge to turn out three sides, but we achieved that! Our particular thanks to Uncle who has organised our Sri Lanka contingent really well - this group has become a very important part of the club overall.

Juniors

The junior section started the season with the fire in the equipment store, but thanks to great support from a number of local clubs and financial support from the local community we were able to start the season on time and sustain a full programme at all age levels. We now have over 100 juniors in the section and the All Stars programme was also successful this year, attracting over 60 youngsters ages 6-9 to the Rec on a Sunday morning.

Clubhouse

Progress is now being made on the Clubhouse and we are ready to play our part in building the new facility which will be an enhanced pavilion with the large amount of space on the upper floor..We have applied for an extension of the planning permission on the cabins to cover the next 18 months.

Awards
We had an enjoyable end of season dinner and we have a few awards still to give out…!

Longer term view…

So next summer we will see…

• The clubhouse being built for opening in 2020...

• The 2nd XI playing in the second division and building on our junior participation

• The junior section continuing to thrive…but we need someone to help Pam for the longer term...

• We always need new players …and we also need a club umpire...

• The committee will be looking at ways we can improve behaviour on the field...

We’ll soon be talking about nets for next year! Enjoy the winter…!
