About Us

Who we are
We are a community-centric club and we welcome players of all ages and abilities. Participation, enjoyment, development and community are our key values. We have over 70 senior and over 170 junior members spanning ages 8– 70+. Our club was founded in 1885 is now more than 135 years old.

The club display the logo of the Grace Dear Trust, a local mental health charity, on all adult and age group side shirts.

Club Atmosphere
We strive for a friendly and social atmosphere for players, parents, supporters and visitors.

We introduced "Festive Fridays" during the 2023 summer which have been a great success with upwards of 200 people on the Rec between players, supporters, members and visitors. Friday evenings are a fantastic time to head over to the Rec and meet other members in a relaxed environment and wonderful setting. We hold a number of social events during the year.

Senior Cricket
We run four senior men's sides - one competitive league team on Saturdays, a friendly team on Sundays, a Social XI on Saturdays and a mid-week T20 side.
Our social Women's XI side started in 2023 and is already growing rapidly.

The Saturday 1st XI were promoted to Division 2 of the Shepherd Neame Surrey County League following a 2nd place finish in 2023.

Junior Cricket
Junior players are at the heart of the club and our cricket offerins start from 5 years old and upwards for both boys and girls.

Over the last 10 years, Claygate has put significant effort and investment into developing its junior sides and we now have nine teams playing competitive cricket in the West Surrey Youth League.

Our "Minis" section of All Stars and Dynamos continues to flourish with courses now running on Thursday, Friday and Saturday during summer.

The club has also reached out directly to local schools running Kwik Cricket training sessions at Claygate Primary School and Esher Church School. The club has hosted several schools’ Mini Cricket competitions featuring local primary schools.
Building on this, we hope to further develop our links to local schools and in association with a local professional coach we run coaching sessions over school holidays.

Facilities
We are extremely fortunate to have outstanding facilities which include 2 artificial pitches, 11 turf pitches, 2 fixed bowling nets and 1 mobile net.

We are able to run 2 junior matches in parallel to multiple training sessions. We have also invested in a variety of off-field equipment to build the club identity and create a welcoming environment for players, parents and visitors.

Local Sponsorship
We are very grateful to the Hare and Hounds (the local pub and restaurant) for their generous support and the pub provides a great place to meet!
