After being asked to bat first, Claygate looked to build a solid platform and, despite losing wickets at regular intervals, managed to post a competitive total through a series of valuable middle‑order contributions.
The backbone of the innings came from Matt Proudman, who top‑scored with a composed 41, batting with patience and control to steady the ship after early losses. Ash Thorpe added important momentum with a fluent 31, striking five boundaries, while Jefe Cervello (27) played a purposeful knock to lift the total towards the closing overs. Cameos from the lower order ensured Claygate passed the 200 mark, eventually finishing on 205 for 9 from their 45 overs.
Defending the total, Claygate made a disciplined start with the ball and remained competitive throughout the Ashford chase. The standout bowling performance came from Akram Syed, who led the attack superbly, claiming 4 wickets for 33 runs from 9 overs, applying pressure and keeping Claygate firmly in the contest. Claygate CC Under 13s were narrowly beaten in a closely contested encounter against Teddington CC U13 Harts, with the hosts edging home by just three wickets in a tense finish.
Batting first, Claygate worked hard to build an innings against a disciplined Teddington bowling attack. Oliver Hamilton led the way with a confident 22, striking four boundaries and setting the tone at the top of the order. He was well supported by Ed Horn (20), who showed good composure and shot selection, and Adam Ampleford (10) as Claygate looked to post a competitive total.
