Claygate endured a difficult afternoon at Imber Court as Esher's powerful batting line-up posted an imposing 314-4 from their 45 overs before bowling Claygate out for 157 in reply.

Having won the toss and elected to field, Claygate initially struggled to contain an Esher side that built around an outstanding unbeaten century from Thomas Hooke, who carried his bat for a magnificent 153 not out from 138 balls, including 15 fours and seven sixes. Hooke dominated proceedings throughout the innings and ensured Esher maintained a strong scoring rate.

Despite the challenging conditions, Claygate's bowlers managed to claim four wickets. Akram Syed was the most successful, returning 2-41 from 9 overs, removing both Josh Kavia (20) and Charlie Green (12). Faizen Rashad bowled tidily to finish with 1-21 from 5 overs, trapping Timothy Clews lbw for 4, while James Mote claimed the wicket of Angus Barrett for 64, ending with 1-43 from his 9 overs.

Barrett's well-made 64 from 69 balls provided strong support for Hooke in a significant partnership, while Claygate were hampered by 28 extras as Esher eventually closed on 314-4.

Facing a daunting chase of 315, Claygate needed a strong start but lost opener Juned Ahmed for 7 with the score on seven. The innings was held together by an excellent knock from Akram Syed, who compiled a fluent 70 from 67 balls, striking 14 boundaries. Syed looked in commanding form and shared useful partnerships as Claygate attempted to keep up with the required rate.

However, wickets fell regularly around him. Rechard Rawoo contributed 20, while Faizen Rashad added a quick 12 from just nine deliveries. Once Syed was dismissed, caught and bowled by Priyesh Patel, Esher tightened their grip on the match.

The home side's bowling attack shared the wickets around, with Priyesh Patel and Max Simpson both taking 3 wickets, returning figures of 3-34 and 3-15 respectively. Shiv Patel also impressed with 2-14 from 6 overs, while Thomas Hooke capped an excellent all-round day with 1-12.

Claygate were eventually dismissed for 157 in 41.5 overs, leaving Esher worthy winners by 157 runs.

A disappointing result for Claygate, but Akram Syed's all-round contribution with both bat and ball was a significant positive on an otherwise tough day against one of the division's stronger performances of the season.

Claygate Women Seal Comprehensive 80-Run Victory Over Thames Ditton

Claygate Women produced one of their most complete performances of the season as they defeated Thames Ditton by 80 runs in their Women's Softball Tier 2 North West fixture.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Claygate made full use of the opportunity, posting 170-5 from their 16 overs, giving them a formidable net score of 345.

The innings was built around an excellent knock from Nicola Tavender, who top-scored with 29 runs and provided the foundation for Claygate's total. She was well supported by Sarah Kelly, who also contributed a valuable 39, while Sone Coetzee added 15 runs and Sarah Ross chipped in with 14. Becca H-Clay contributed 8 runs, while useful contributions throughout the batting order helped Claygate maintain pressure on the Thames Ditton fielders and finish with an imposing total.

Defending a strong score, Claygate's bowlers immediately put Thames Ditton under pressure and never allowed the visitors to gain any real momentum. Wickets fell regularly throughout the innings as Claygate maintained control from start to finish.

The standout performers with the ball were Sone Coetzee and Sarah Kelly, who each claimed three wickets. Coetzee delivered an outstanding spell of 3-16 from 4 overs, while Kelly matched her efforts with 3-18 from 3 overs.

Further support came from the rest of the attack. Sarah Ross picked up 1-22, Emma Riley claimed 1-21, and Madeleine Jones added 1-18 as Claygate shared the wickets around.

Thames Ditton finished on 110-9 from 16 overs, resulting in a net score of 265, well short of Claygate's total.

For Thames Ditton, Caroline Davies was one of the few batters to make a notable contribution, scoring 15 runs, but Claygate's disciplined bowling and energetic fielding ensured there would be no sustained fightback.

A superb all-round display saw Claygate dominate with both bat and ball, securing a deserved 80-run victory and maximum points in an impressive team performance.

Claygate Complete Successful Chase as Juned Ahmad Scores Superb Century

Claygate produced a dominant performance to secure victory over FSSCC, led by a magnificent century from Juned Ahmad and a disciplined bowling display that laid the foundation for the win.

After being put into bat, FSSCC posted 252-8 from their 40 overs. Claygate's bowlers worked hard throughout the innings, with wickets shared across the attack to prevent the visitors from accelerating during the closing stages.

The standout performer with the ball was AVK, who returned figures of 2-41 from 8 overs. He was well supported by Juned Ahmad (1-66), Nick Beresford (1-43), John Law (1-46) and Harrington (1-5 from 2 overs). Claygate also backed up their bowlers well in the field, taking catches and completing a stumping to ensure FSSCC were restricted to a chaseable total.

In reply, Claygate suffered an early setback when the first wicket fell with just five runs on the board. However, what followed was an innings of real class from Juned Ahmad, who anchored the chase superbly.

Ahmad compiled a brilliant 102, reaching a deserved century and putting Claygate firmly in control of the contest. After rebuilding the innings following the early wicket, he shared several important partnerships that steadily took the game away from FSSCC.

Support came from throughout the batting order. Adam contributed a valuable 20, while Mike Roberts added 30 to keep the scoreboard moving as Claygate closed in on the target. The middle order remained composed under pressure, ensuring the required rate never became an issue.

Juned's century proved to be the decisive contribution of the match, guiding Claygate past the visitors' total and completing an impressive run chase.
