Surrey Warriors Prove Too Strong for Claygate 1st XI

Surrey Warriors CC 226-6 (45 overs) beat Claygate CC 107 all out (30.4 overs) by 119 runs
Claygate 1st XI endured a difficult afternoon at Abbeyfields as Surrey Warriors secured a comprehensive 119-run victory after posting an imposing 226-6 from their 45 overs.
Having lost the toss and been asked to field, Claygate started brightly and picked up early wickets to keep the home side in check. Akram Syed was the pick of the bowlers, returning excellent figures of 3-23 from 9 overs, including two maidens, while Joe Lukens claimed 2-41 and Tim Powell added 1-32.

Surrey Warriors were well served by Sarbartha Chakrabarti, who anchored the innings with a fine 81, while Vignesh Ravindran provided strong support with 53. Earlier contributions from Abhishek Kaushik (30) and Sashi Padhi (14) helped build the platform before the middle order accelerated towards a competitive total of 226-6.
Claygate's fielding also produced some highlights, with Ashley Thorpe taking two catches and CJ Hopkins and Akram Syed each holding on to important chances.

Facing a challenging chase, Claygate struggled to establish the partnerships required to threaten the target. Opening batter Noah Luxman led the resistance with a patient 33, while Luke Webb played positively for 14 and Joe Lukens contributed 13.
There were also useful contributions from Jamie Board (12) and CJ Hopkins (11), but wickets fell regularly as Surrey Warriors maintained control throughout the innings.

The home side's bowlers shared the rewards, with Nitin Verma producing a match-winning spell of 5 wickets for 31 runs, while Venkat Kannan chipped in with 2 wickets. Claygate were eventually dismissed for 107 in 30.4 overs, falling 119 runs short of the target.
While the result was disappointing, Claygate can take positives from the performances of Akram Syed, whose three-wicket spell kept the hosts in check for much of their innings, and Noah Luxman, who showed determination at the top of the order in the run chase.

Claygate Fall Short Against Hampton Wick Royal in Friendly Contest

Claygate CC Friendly XI 140 all out (31.4 overs) lost to Hampton Wick Royal CC Sunday XI 220-0 (40 overs) by 80 runs

Claygate were beaten by an impressive Hampton Wick Royal side on Sunday, despite a spirited batting display in reply to a formidable first-innings total.
After winning the toss, Hampton Wick Royal elected to bat and made full use of the conditions. Their openers laid a strong foundation and remained undefeated throughout the 40 overs, finishing on 220 without loss.

The visitors were led by three retired batters who all reached half-centuries: Rahul Naithani (51 retired), Ben Houghton (50 retired) and Zak Collier (50 retired). Ethan Murray added an unbeaten 21, while Christiaan Botha contributed 11 retired as Claygate's bowlers searched unsuccessfully for a breakthrough.

Despite the lack of wickets, Claygate's attack worked hard throughout. The most economical spell came from Warren Jeffery, who returned figures of 0-11 from 8 overs, while Mike Roberts conceded just 19 runs from 4 overs. Allan Van Konynenburg (0-32), Faizan Rashad (0-33), Gareth Williams (0-34) and Jonathan Law (0-35) also put in lengthy spells as the visitors accumulated steadily.

Chasing 221 for victory, Claygate made a positive start but found regular wickets difficult to avoid against a disciplined Hampton Wick Royal bowling attack.
Hugh Taggart top-scored with an excellent 36, providing the backbone of the innings. He was well supported by Gareth Williams (22) and Mike Roberts (14), while Jonathan Law remained unbeaten on 13 at the end.

With 19 extras added, Claygate reached 140 all out in 31.4 overs, falling 80 runs short of the target.
The wickets were shared around by the Hampton Wick Royal bowlers. Blake Haden, Alex Watson, Ben Longhurst, Christiaan Botha, and Freddie Saville all struck at key moments to prevent Claygate from building the partnerships needed to challenge the sizeable target.
While the result went against Claygate, there were positives to take from the batting efforts of Hugh Taggart and Gareth Williams, together with a determined performance in the field against a strong Hampton Wick Royal batting line-up.

Result: Hampton Wick Royal CC Sunday XI 220-0 beat Claygate CC Friendly XI 140 all out by 80 runs.

Late Fightback Not Enough as Claygate U13s Fall Just Short

Claygate U13s 110 all out (20 overs) lost to Whiteley Village CC U13s 111-6 (14.4 overs) by 4 wickets
Claygate U13s were left to rue a missed opportunity as Whiteley Village chased down a target of 111 to secure a four-wicket victory in an entertaining Surrey Junior Cricket Championship encounter.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Claygate battled hard against a disciplined Whiteley Village bowling attack. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, several batters made valuable contributions to help post a competitive 110 all out from 20 overs.
O Hamilton top-scored with 18, playing positively through the middle overs, while wicketkeeper J Wilson added 17. A Thompson got Claygate off to a good start with 13, and L Hatton chipped in with 10.
Further runs came from M Marsh (6 not out) and A Ampleford (4). A major boost to the total came from 41 extras, which ultimately lifted Claygate to three figures.
Whiteley Village's bowlers shared the wickets, with H Beckram (3-11) and J Connolly (2 wickets) causing most of the damage as Claygate's innings was wrapped up on exactly 110.
Defending their total, Claygate produced an excellent response with the ball and put Whiteley Village under pressure throughout the chase.
A Thompson was outstanding, claiming 3 wickets for just 1 run from 2 overs, removing key batters and giving Claygate genuine hope of defending the target.

Claygate also fielded sharply, with Z Billingham taking a catch and combining with Hamilton for another dismissal.
However, Whiteley Village had enough firepower to edge over the line. A Sapsed struck a quickfire 26 from 16 balls, while J Coulston remained unbeaten on 27. Earlier, H Beckram contributed 23 as the visitors maintained the required run rate.
Despite the defeat, Claygate showed tremendous character in the field and fought until the very end, reducing Whiteley Village to six wickets down before the target was reached with just over five overs remaining.

Result: Whiteley Village CC U13s 111-6 beat Claygate U13s 110 all out by 4 wickets.

Crusiter Century Foundation Leads Claygate U14 Girls to Impressive Victory

Claygate CC Girls U14 138-3 (20 overs) beat Hampton Wick Royal CC Girls U14A 106 all out (19.3 overs) by 32 runs

Claygate Girls U14s produced an outstanding all-round display to secure a convincing 32-run victory over Hampton Wick Royal and continue their strong Surrey Junior Cricket Championship campaign.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Claygate posted an excellent 138-3 from their 20 overs, built around a magnificent innings from G Crusiter.
Crusiter anchored the innings superbly, striking 76 from 90 balls, including 11 boundaries, carrying the bulk of the scoring and providing the platform for an imposing total. Support came from M Bailey (9) and E Smith, who finished unbeaten on 9, while A Williams added 2.
Claygate were also helped by a substantial 42 extras, as Hampton Wick Royal struggled to maintain consistent control with the ball.
At 77 without loss the innings was in excellent shape before wickets began to fall, but Crusiter's commanding knock ensured Claygate finished strongly and set a challenging target of 139.
In reply, Hampton Wick Royal never quite managed to build the partnerships required to keep pace with the asking rate as Claygate's bowlers shared the wickets around effectively.
A Hamilton and C Colyer were the standout performers with the ball, each claiming 2 wickets. I Sutton also picked up 2 wickets, while E Smith and G Crusiter chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Hampton Wick Royal's resistance was led by P Mahant, who remained unbeaten on 18, while S Buller (8) and T Balanta (7) made starts. However, regular wickets and disciplined bowling prevented the visitors from mounting a serious challenge.
Claygate maintained the pressure throughout the innings and eventually dismissed Hampton Wick Royal for 106 in 19.3 overs, sealing a deserved victory by 32 runs.
The match showcased a true team performance, headlined by Crusiter's match-winning knock and backed up by a bowling unit that shared the wickets and controlled the chase superbly.

Hampton Wick Royal CC U14B 114-7 (20 overs) lost to Claygate CC U14s 116-7 (17.5 overs) by 3 wickets

Claygate U14s edged a closely contested encounter against Hampton Wick Royal, chasing down their target with more than two overs to spare to secure an exciting three-wicket victory.

After losing the toss, Claygate were asked to field first and produced a disciplined bowling and fielding display to restrict Hampton Wick Royal to 114-7 from their 20 overs.
Despite Hampton Wick's innings being boosted by 48 extras, Claygate continued to take wickets at regular intervals. M Lovell and F Walker were the standout bowlers, both claiming 2 wickets apiece.
M Lovell finished with impressive figures of 2-10 from 3 overs, while F Walker returned 2-13 from 2.5 overs. Further wickets came from B Nkrumah, J Dickinson, R Bitner and E Gilchrist as Hampton Wick struggled to build momentum.
The home side's top scorers were M Lovell (17), D Verma (10) and H Heath (10), but Claygate's bowlers ensured no batter was able to dominate the innings

Set 115 for victory, Claygate's reply was led by a superb innings from B Nkrumah, whose aggressive 42 from 25 balls swung the match firmly in the visitors' favour. His knock included six boundaries and was the standout batting performance of the game.
Useful contributions came throughout the order. B Smith remained unbeaten on 14, while H Sword added 11 and T Jacob contributed 8. Lower down the order, S Wateridge finished unbeaten on 5 to help guide Claygate over the line.

Claygate were also aided by 34 extras, but their positive intent with the bat ensured they kept ahead of the required rate despite losing wickets along the way.
The winning runs came in the 18th over as Claygate reached 116-7 from 17.5 overs, sealing a deserved victory in a match that showcased both resilience and teamwork.

A strong all-round team performance helped Claygate overcome a spirited Hampton Wick side and claim another valuable victory.

Nkrumah's Match-Winning 49 Guides Claygate U14s to Dramatic One-Wicket Victory

Chessington CC U14B 112-7 (20 overs) lost to Claygate CC U14s 113-8 (17.4 overs) by 1 wicket

Claygate U14s held their nerve to pull off a thrilling one-wicket victory against Chessington in a closely fought Surrey Junior Cricket Championship encounter.
After winning the toss, Claygate elected to field and produced a disciplined bowling performance to restrict Chessington to 112-7 from their 20 overs.
Although the hosts were aided by a hefty 62 extras, Claygate continued to chip away with regular wickets throughout the innings. The standout performer with the ball was H Grosvenor, who claimed excellent figures of 4-11 from 3 overs, breaking the heart of the Chessington middle order.

Support came from T Jacob, E Gilchrist and H Sword, who each picked up a wicket, while sharp fielding ensured Chessington were unable to fully capitalise on their start.

For Chessington, A Moore top-scored with 17 not out, while T Melbourne and D Verma both made 10. However, Claygate's bowlers kept the scoring under control and left themselves a manageable target of 113.
In reply, Claygate's chase got off to a difficult start as wickets fell regularly. At several stages the visitors looked in danger of falling short, but a superb innings from captain B Nkrumah turned the contest in Claygate's favour.
Nkrumah played brilliantly, finishing unbeaten on 49 from just 36 balls, striking seven fours and a six in a match-winning knock. He anchored the chase while wickets tumbled around him and ensured Claygate remained in touch with the required rate.
Important support came from B Smith, who contributed 10, while H Sword added 8 and B Girling remained unbeaten on 8 to help see the team over the line.
Despite losing eight wickets, Claygate kept battling and eventually reached 113-8 in 17.4 overs, securing victory with three balls remaining.

The result was a testament to Claygate's resilience, with Grosvenor's four-wicket spell laying the foundations before Nkrumah's composed and aggressive innings guided the side home in a nail-biting finish.
