In the second friendly (30th April),Claygate faced Thames Ditton 1st XI at Giggs Hill Green. and with the sun shining both teams were looking for a good contest.
Claygate lost the toss and fielded first. Webb and Rajindu kept it tight before Webb made the first break through with a good catch taken by debutant Kumar. Dixon was soon to follow with a looping catch that fell to Daniels off the bowling of Joel Watkins. Watkins made it 2 wickets in 2 balls with a Rodrigo catch and finished with figures of 4/36 from 9 overs. Chris Howe’s return to seam bowling produced some oddities (!) but figures of 2/8! Rodrigo finished off the tail with 2/10. A solid bowling performance and Ditton all out for 107,.
After loosing Henderson quickly, Rodrigo and De Silva took the attack to the bowlers scoring freely with a mixture of shots. Claygate lost wickets regularly - De Silva (15) Daniels (10), and Rodrigo (32) before Howe (32*) continued where he left off from last week seeing the game home with Claygate reaching the total with 5 wickets to spare in 23 overs. All in all a good performance on a difficult track.
